FOUNDATION
[001] The present disclosure refers to a display suitable for large televisions and the like.
[002] Although a display typically has a planar screen, it is also proposed to deform the curvature of a screen into a circular arc shape. For example, Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2005-331872 discloses a technology for bend deformation of a display body in which a threaded shaft penetrates a right side plate of the display body while a cylindrical bar is attached to a left side plate thereof, and the distal end of the threaded shaft is advanced into the cylindrical bar by rotating an operating screw so as to bring the left and right side plates of the display body close together for curvature deformation of the body. of dial. SUMMARY
[003] However, display bodies are provided with various structural objects, such as a circuit and a display element, and the rigidity of the display bodies is not necessarily uniform over a display screen. Therefore, simply bringing the left and right side plates of the display body close together, as disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2005-331872, can cause buckling of the display body, thus leading to degradation of image quality.
[004] It is desirable to provide a display that allows a sample body to have any desired shape.
[005] A display according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a plate member having flexibility and including a first face and a second face that face each other; a frame member provided on the first face of the plate member and extending in a direction of the first face; and a display body having flexibility and disposed on one side of the plate member on which the second face is provided.
[006] The display according to the above-described embodiment of the present disclosure includes the frame member provided on the first face of the flexible plate member. The frame member extends in one direction on the first face of the plate member. The flexible display body is disposed on the second face side of the plate member. Therefore, in the direction of extension of the frame member, the plate member can have a shape equal to the shape of a side or a face, which faces the plate member, the frame member, and the display body. may have a format following the board member. For example, when the side or face of the frame member facing the plate member is configured to have a curved or flexed shape in the direction of extension of the frame member, the plate member therefore has a curved shape or a flexed, and the dial body also has a curved or flexed shape, following the plate member.
[007] In the display according to the above-described embodiment of the present disclosure, the frame member extending in one direction is provided on the first face of the plate member having flexibility, and the display body having flexibility is disposed on the second side of face of the board member. Consequently, it is possible to allow the plate member and the display body to have any desired shape by adjusting the shape of the side or face of the frame member facing the plate member.
[008] It is important to understand that both the preceding general description and the detailed description below are examples, and are not intended to provide further explanation of the technology as claimed. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0031] In the following, an embodiment of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. It is important to note that the description will be in the following order.
[0032] 1. Modality (an example of a liquid crystal display)
[0033] 2. Modification 1 (a modification of a variable mechanism and shapes of frame members 50, a plate member 40 and a liquid crystal panel 11)
[0034] 3. Modification 2 (an example of an organic EL shown)
[0035] FIG. 1 shows an external appearance of a display 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention as viewed from a front side, and FIG. 2 shows an outward appearance of dial 1 as viewed from a rear side. The display 1 can serve, for example, as a television, and has a configuration in which a plate-shaped main body section 10 for image display is supported by bases 20A and 20B (which are collectively referred to as bases 20 in the description Next). It is important to note that the dial 1 is used as a foot-type dial, which is placed on a horizontal plane, such as a floor, a shelf and a bench, in a state where the bases 20 are mounted on the main body section. 10, but the display 1 can also be a wall type display, which is used in a state where the bases 20 are disassembled from the main body section 10.
[0036] As used in this document, a front-rear direction of the main body section 10 is referred to as a Z direction, a left and right direction and up and down direction of the main face (wider face) of the body section. 10 main body are referred to as an X direction and a Y direction, respectively.
[0037] The main body section 10 may include a liquid crystal panel 11 serving as a display body, for example. Front outer members 12 that hide speakers described later are installed at the left and right ends of the main body section 10. Cover members (front covers) 13 cover the top and bottom sides of the liquid crystal panel 11 and the front outer members 12 A rear outer member (back cover) 14 overlies the rear face of the main body section 10.
[0038] FIG. 3 shows an internal configuration of a center portion of the liquid crystal panel 11 illustrated in FIG. 1, and shows a cross section along the Y direction. The liquid crystal panel 11 includes a front housing (top chassis) 31, a liquid crystal cell 32, an intermediate housing (middle chassis) 33, an optical sheet 34 , a light guide plate 35 and a reflector plate 36, in that order, from front to back in the Z direction. It is important to note that a plate member 40 described later is provided at the rear of the reflector plate 36.
[0039] The front housing 31 is a frame-shaped metal component that overlies the front peripheral portion of the liquid crystal panel 11. The liquid crystal cell 32 may have a configuration in which a liquid crystal layer (not shown) is sealed between two substrates 32A and 32B which can be made of glass or the like, for example. Liquid crystal cell 32 can include a source driver and a 32D source substrate, for example. The intermediate housing 33 is a frame-shaped resin component that retains the liquid crystal cell 32 and the optical sheet 34. The optical sheet 34 may include a diffusion plate, a diffusion sheet, a lens film and/or a polarizing separator sheet, for example. The light guide plate 35 guides light from a light source (not shown) to the liquid crystal panel side 11, and can basically contain a transparent thermoplastic resin, such as a polycarbonate (PC) resin and an acrylic resin. (for example, PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate)), for example. The reflector plate 36 reflects light emitted to the rear side of the light guide plate 35 back to the light guide plate 35, and may be a member having a plate shape or a sheet shape, and configured from PET ( polyethylene terephthalate) foamed, a silver deposition film, a multi-layer reflection film, a white PET or the like.
[0040] The main components of the liquid crystal panel 11 (except for plate-shaped components and substrates), namely, the liquid crystal cell 32, the optical sheet 34, the light guide plate 35 and the reflector plate 36 , are each configured of a flexible member made of glass or resin having a thin plate shape or a sheet shape. Thus, the liquid crystal panel 11 has flexibility in its entirety.
[0041] The liquid crystal panel 11 illustrated in FIG. 1 is curved in a circular arc shape, in a one-dimensional direction (X direction). To be more specific, preferably the liquid crystal panel 11 can be curved backwards (towards the back) in a convex manner, as illustrated, for example, in FIG. 4. In this way, when viewed from a front side, the liquid crystal panel 11 appears to gradually narrow towards its center portion from its left and right portions (see FIG. 13). Hence, it is possible to achieve a sense of unity and a sense of absorption through the visual effect of perspective.
[0042] Furthermore, preferably, the curved shape of the liquid crystal panel 11 can be uniform in the Y direction. When the curvature varies in the Y direction, the liquid crystal panel 11 can be locally twisted and, consequently, the crystal panel 11 liquid may be damaged or display defect may occur.
Preferably, the bases 20 illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2 can be provided, for example, in the lower left and right portions of the main body section 10. One reason for this is as follows. When the liquid crystal panel 11 is curved backwards in a convex manner, the left and right ends thereof are positioned in front with respect to the center of gravity of the main body section 10, and therefore the bases 20 are hidden by the main body section 10, thereby making possible projection of each base 20 to the front side of the main body section 10 less observable compared to the case where the liquid crystal panel 11 is flat. Furthermore, as described later, since speakers are arranged at the left and right ends of the main body section 10, the speakers are securely supported by the bases 20 placed at the lower left and right portions of the main body section 10.
[0044] It is important to note that, unlike the lower left and right portions of the main body section 10, the bases 20 can also be provided in a lower center portion of the main body section 10. Furthermore, in the case where the panel of liquid crystal 11 is designed to be very curved, the main body section 10 can remain independent, without the bases 20. The bases 20A and 20B disposed on the left side and on the right side, respectively, in FIG. 2 can be provided separately or in pairs.
[0045] FIG. 5 shows a configuration of display 1 as viewed from a rear side, in a state where outer front member 12 and outer rear member 14 are disassembled from display 1 illustrated in FIG. 1. Plate member 40 and frame members 50 are disposed within rear outer member 14. Plate member 40 and frame members 50 are described in more detail below.
[0046] The speakers 15 are respectively arranged at the left and right ends (left and right sides of the liquid crystal panel 11) of the main body section 10. Arranging the speakers 15 at the left and right ends of the main body section 10 in this manner it allows image and sound to be visually integrated without being separated from each other, thus making it possible to promote yet another sense of unity and a sense of absorption together with the above-described visual effect of perspective by the curvature of the liquid crystal panel 11 .
[0047] Preferably, the speakers 15 can protrude behind the plate member 40 from the left and right side of the liquid crystal panel 11. This makes it possible to secure the volume of the speakers 15, and achieve output increase and enhancement of sound quality. It is important to note that the outer face of the outer rear member 14 may have a curved shape similar to the liquid crystal panel 11, but preferably the outer face may have a flat shape, as illustrated, for example, in FIG. 2. With this configuration, ample space is defined between the plate member 40 and the rear outer member 14, and the speakers 15 can be arranged to extend around the rear of the plate member 40 in the space to allow it to the volume of speakers 15 is increased.
[0048] The substrates 60 are mounted to the rear face of the plate member 40. The substrates 60 may include a source substrate, a temporal controller substrate, and a balancing substrate that controls a backlight source.
[0049] FIG. 6 shows a configuration of plate member 40 and frame members 50, which are illustrated in FIG. 5 as viewed from a rear side. FIG. 7 shows a configuration of frame member 50, plate member 40 and liquid crystal panel 11 as viewed from above. Plate member 40 is configured from a flexible plate made of metal or resin, and has a first face (back face) 40A and a second face (front face) 40B facing each other. The frame members 50 are provided on the first face 40A of the plate member 40. The frame members 50 extend in one direction (X direction) on the first face 40A of the plate member 40. The flexible liquid crystal panel described above 11 is disposed on the second face 40B of the plate member 40. Thus, the liquid crystal panel 11 can have a desired shape in the display 1.
[0050] FIG. 8 shows a configuration of the frame members 50 illustrated in FIG. 6 as viewed from a forward side (one side to be affixed to plate member 40). The frame members 50 may have a rectangular cylindrical shape having three shaped faces of a top face section 51 and a bottom face section 52 which are parallel to each other, and a side face section 53 which connects the face section. top 51 and bottom face section 52, for example. The sides 51A and 52A of the top face section 51 and the bottom face section 52 face the plate member 40. The side face section 53 is provided with screw holes 54 for attachment to the plate member 40 , and, if necessary, VESA (Electronic Video Standardization Association) holes 55 (not shown in FIG. 8, see FIG. 5 and FIG. 6) for attaching wall brackets (not shown).
[0051] FIG. 9 shows a configuration of the frame members 50 illustrated in FIG. 8 as viewed from above (from top face section side 51). By the way, a configuration of the frame members 50 as viewed from below (from the bottom face section side 52) may be the same as the configuration shown in FIG. 9. Each of the sides 51A and 52A of the frame member 50 that faces the plate member 40 has a circular arc shape curved in a one-dimensional direction in an extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50. Specifically, sides 51A and 52A are curved backwards (or, to side face section side 53) in a convex manner.
[0052] As illustrated in FIG. 7, in the extending direction (X direction) of the frame member 50, the plate member 40 has the same shape as that of sides 51A and 52A of the frame member 50 that faces the plate member 40. In other words , the plate member 40 has, along sides 51A and 52A, a circular arc shape that is curved in a one-dimensional direction in the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50. Specifically, the plate member 40 is curved backwards (or, to the side of the first face 40A) in a convex manner. Liquid crystal panel 11 may have the same shape as plate member 40.
[0053] As illustrated in FIG. 6, in total, three of the frame members 50 can be provided in a position in proximity to an upper side of the plate member 40, a position in proximity to a lower side thereof, and an intermediate position between the upper and lower sides. , respectively, and preferably sides 51A and 52A, which face the plate member 40 of the three frame members 50 may have the same shape. This makes it possible to design the curved shape of the liquid crystal panel 11 uniform in the Y direction. Therefore, the possibility is increased that the liquid crystal panel 11 is curved in two-dimensional directions, the X and Y directions, thus making it possible to suppress the damage. and display defect of the liquid crystal panel 11 due to local torsion.
[0054] Preferably, left and right sections 53A and 53B of the side face section 53 of the frame members 50 may be curved forward (or to the side of sides 51A and 52A) as illustrated in FIG. 9. With this configuration, ample space is defined between the frame members 50 and the rear outer member 14, and the speakers 15 can be arranged to extend around the rear of the frame members 50 in the space to allow for the volume of speakers 15 is increased.
[0055] FIG. 10 shows a configuration of the plate member 40 illustrated in FIG. 6 as viewed from the first face side (back face) 40A. As described above, plate member 40 is configured from a flexible metal plate or resin plate. The material and thickness of plate member 40 is not specifically limited, as long as they are adjusted in such a way that plate member 40 has flexibility. For example, plate member 40 can be formed to have a thickness of about 0.2mm to about 3mm both included, and can be made of iron, aluminum, glass, resin, or the like.
[0056] The plate member 40 includes first projections 41. The first projections 41 may be linear raised portions formed by stretching the plate member 40, for example, and extending in a direction other than the direction of extension of the frame members 50 (X direction), specifically, in a direction (Y direction) orthogonal to the direction of extension of the frame members 50. The first projections 41 have a function of a reinforcing structure that retains the curved shape of the plate member 40 in the X direction. formed by the frame members 50. That is, with the first projections 41, the rigidity of the plate member 40 is increased in the extension direction (Y direction) of the first projections 41, and therefore the possibility of losing the curved shape of board member 40 in the X direction is reduced.
[0057] Preferably, the first projections 41 can be provided at both end portions of the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50. Specifically, since the frame members 50 can be provided entirely from the left side to the side right side of the plate member 40 in the X direction, the first projections 41 can preferably be provided along the left side and the right side of the plate member 40. This makes it possible to increase the rigidity of both end portions of the plate member 40 in the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50, and obtain greater reinforcement effect. It is important to note that the first projections 41 cannot necessarily be provided at both ends (left and right sides) of the plate member 40, and may be provided at positions close to the center rather than on the left and right sides of the plate member. 40. Furthermore, the locations where the first projections 41 are provided are not limited to two locations, the left and right sides, of the plate member 40, and it is sufficient to provide the first projection 41 at at least one location in the extending direction. (X direction) of the frame members 50.
[0058] Furthermore, the plate member 40 includes a plurality of second projections 42 provided in parallel to each other. The second projections 42 may be linear raised portions formed by stretching the plate member 40, for example, and extending in a direction other than the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50, specifically, in one direction (Y direction ) orthogonal to the extension direction of the frame members 50. The second projections 42 are grouped in the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50. With the second projections 42, it is possible to readily flex the plate member 40 along the grouping direction (X direction) of the second projections 42, or along an arrow direction A1 in FIG. 11, for example, but it is difficult to flex the plate member 40 along the other directions, such as an arrow direction A2 in FIG. 11, and therefore it is possible to retain the curved shape of the plate member 40 favorably. Therefore, adopting the first projections 41 and the second projections 42 in combination makes it possible to further improve the function of the first projections 41 as a reinforcing structure.
[0059] The plate member 40 is provided as pins 43 that secure the frame members 50. The pins 43 can be affixed, for example, to the second projections 42. Of course, the screw holes 54 of the side face section 53 of the frame members 50 are provided at positions corresponding to the positions of pins 43 on frame members 50. It is important to note that the positions of pins 43 and screw holes 54 are not specifically limited, and pins 43 and screw holes 54 they can be provided in different positions than in the second projections 42. The number of pins 43 and screw holes 54 is also not specifically limited, but a smooth curved shape can be formed when the number is increased. It is important to note that, desirably, the height of the pins 43 can be adjusted in accordance with the dimension and shape of the frame members 50 (such as the width of the top face section 51 and the bottom face section 52, by flexing the left and right sections 53A and 53B of the side face section 53), and the like.
[0060] It is important to note that, desirably, in order to avoid interference between the first projections 41 and the second projections 42, clearance slots 56 may be provided in the top face section 51 and in the bottom face section 52 of the members. of frame 50 illustrated in FIG. 8 and FIG. 9.
[0061] FIG. 12 shows an internal configuration of liquid crystal panel 11 near first projections 41 illustrated in FIG. 10, and shows a cross section along the X direction. A light source 37 which illuminates the liquid crystal panel 11 may be provided on each of the right and left side faces of the light guide plate 35. light 37 can be configured from an LED (light emitting diode) or a semiconductor laser, can be sealed in a package (not shown), can be mounted on a light source substrate 38, and can be arranged in facing relation to an incident light face 35A of the light guide plate 35. The light source substrate 38 is provided on a heat release plate 39. The heat release plate 39 dissipates heat generated in the light source 37, and is configured from a metal plate that can be made of aluminum (Al) or similar.
[0062] The heat release plate 39 is provided in such a way as to extend in a direction different from the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50, specifically, in a direction (Y direction) orthogonal to the direction of extension of the frame members 50. In addition, the heat release plate 39 is a metal plate which can have a thickness of about 2 mm, and has high strength. Therefore, in addition to the heat release function described above, the heat release plate 39 can have a reinforcing structure function similarly to the first projections 41. That is, with the heat release plate 39, it is possible to reinforce the rigidity of the plate member 40 in the extension direction (Y direction) of the heat release plate 39, thus decreasing the possibility of losing the curved shape of the plate member 40 in the X direction.
[0063] Preferably, the above-described heat release plate 39 also serving as a reinforcing structure can be provided at both end portions in the extending direction (X direction) of the frame members 50. Specifically, since the frame members 50 can be provided all the way from the left to the right side of the plate member 40 in the X direction, the heat release plate 39 can preferably be provided along the left and right sides of the plate member 40. It is possible to increase the rigidity of both end portions of the plate member 40 in the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50, and to obtain greater reinforcing effect.
[0064] In particular, when the heat release plate 39 is arranged in a recessed portion 41A located on the rear side of the first projections 41, it is possible to increase the reinforcement function described above by the synergistic effect of the heat release plate 39 and from the first projections 41.
[0065] It is important to note that the heat release plate 39 may not necessarily be provided at both ends (left and right side) of the plate member 40, and may be provided at positions close to the center rather than on the left sides. and right of plate member 40. In addition, the locations where heat release plate 39 is provided are not limited to two locations, the left and right sides of plate member 40, and it suffices to provide heat release plate 39 at least at one location in the extension direction (X direction) of the frame members 50.
[0066] The dial 1 can be manufactured as follows.
[0067] First, the frame members 50 are bolted to the first face 40A of the plate member 40. Here, since the plate member 40 has flexibility, the shape of the plate member 40 is determined by the shape of the sides 51A. and 52A of the frame member 50 which faces the plate member 40. That is, since each of the sides 51A and 52A has a circular arc shape curved in the direction of extension (X direction) of the frame members 50 , the shape of the plate member 40 consequently has a curved shape in a circular arc shape.
[0068] Therefore, for example, various types of the frame members 50 can be prepared so as to make the curved shapes of the sides 51A and 52A, which face the plate member 40, of the frame members 50 different from each other. With this configuration, by merely replacing the frame members 50 in accordance with a desired curved shape of the liquid crystal panel 11, it is possible to readily manufacture the liquid crystal panel 11 having a desired curved shape.
[0069] Then, on the second face 40B of the plate member 40, the heat release plate 39, the light source substrate 38 and the light source 37 are arranged in the recessed portion 41A located on the rear side of the first projections 41. In addition, the reflector plate 36, the light guide plate 35 and the optical sheet 34 are mounted on the second face 40B of the plate member 40. Thereafter, the intermediate housing 33 is mounted on the peripheral portion of the second face 40B of the plate member 40, the liquid crystal cell 32 is fitted to the intermediate housing 33, and the front housing 31 is affixed to the front peripheral portion of the liquid crystal cell 32. In this way, the liquid crystal panel 11 is formed in the second face 40B of plate member 40.
[0070] In this case, the main components of the liquid crystal panel 11 (except with respect to the frame-shaped components and the substrates), namely, the liquid crystal cell 32, the optical sheet 34, the light guide plate 35 and reflector plate 36 are each configured of a flexible member made of glass or resin having a thin plate shape or a sheet shape, and thus the liquid crystal panel 11 has flexibility in its entirety. Therefore, the liquid crystal panel 11 has a curved shape in a circular arc shape following the plate member 40.
[0071] After the liquid crystal panel 11 is formed, the speakers 15 are affixed to the front housing 31, and the substrates 60 are mounted on the first face 40A of the plate member 40. Thereafter, the speakers 15 are hidden by the outer member front 12, and the upper and lower sides of the liquid crystal panel 11 and the front outer member 12 are covered by the cover members 13. In this way, the main body section 10 is formed. Thereafter, the rear face of the main body section 10 is covered by the outer rear member 14, and the bases 20 are affixed to the lower left and right portions of the main body section 10. Thus, display 1 illustrated in FIG. 1 is completed.
[0072] In the display 1, light from the light source 37 is selectively transmitted through the liquid crystal panel 11, and thus image display is performed. In this case, since the liquid crystal panel 11 is curved backwards (towards the back side) in a convex circled arc shape in the one-dimensional direction (X direction), the liquid crystal panel 11 appears to be gradually narrowed in the direction. of its center portion from its left and right portions as illustrated in FIG. 13. It is therefore possible to achieve a sense of unity and a sense of absorption through the visual effect of perspective.
[0073] Furthermore, since the speakers 15 are arranged on the left and right portions of the liquid crystal panel 11, image and sound are visually integrated without being separated from each other. As a result, it is possible to further promote a sense of unity and a sense of absorption, together with the visual perspective effect described above by the curvature of the liquid crystal panel 11.
[0074] As described above, in the present embodiment, frame members 50 extending in one direction (X direction) are provided on the first face 40A of flexible plate member 40, and flexible liquid crystal panel 11 is disposed on the second face side 40B of plate member 40. Therefore, it is possible to allow plate member 40 and liquid crystal panel 11 to have any desired shape by adjusting the shape of sides 51A and 52A of frame member 50 that face towards the board member 40.(Modification 1)
[0075] Next, a configuration is described, in which the shapes of the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are variable. For example, several tiers of frame members 50 can be arranged so as to make the curved shapes of sides 51A and 52A, which face plate member 40, of frame members 50 different from each other. With this configuration, just by replacing the frame members 50 according to a desired curved shape of the liquid crystal panel 11, it is possible to readily change the shape of the liquid crystal panel 11.
[0076] Furthermore, it is also possible to provide a variable mechanism to the frame members 50 so that the frame members 50 are deformed manually by threading or the like, or automatically by a motor or the like to change the shapes of the plate member 40 and of the liquid crystal panel 11 according to the deformation of the frame members 50. This allows a user to readily change the shape of the liquid crystal panel 11, and to selectively use the screen formats according to images to be viewed and environments of vision.
[0077] Modifications of the shapes of the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 encompass that described below.
[0078] For example, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is described in which the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are fully curved in the X direction as illustrated in FIG. 7. However, the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 can be partially curved in the X direction (such that a center portion 71 is flat, but left and right sections 72 and 73 are curved, for example), as illustrated in FIG. 14.
[0079] Furthermore, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are uniformly curved (in a fixed curvature). However, the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 may have locally different curvatures from each other in the X direction. In other words, the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 can be curved such that, with curvature change points 74 as boundaries, the center portion 71 is slightly curved, and the left and right sections 72 and 73 are heavily curved as illustrated in FIG. 15.
[0080] In the examples illustrated in FIG. 14 and FIG. 15, for example, the flat or slightly curved center portion 71 can be used when an image having an aspect ratio of 4:3 is to be displayed. On the other hand, when an image having an aspect ratio of 16:9 is to be displayed, it is possible to make a sense of depth by using the entire display screen, including the heavily curved left and right sections 72 and 73.
[0081] Furthermore, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are curved in shape. However, the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 may be shaped like a part of a polygon (a shape having a plurality of flat faces connected together) in the X direction. , the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 can be configured such that they are sectioned at the center portion 71 and at the left and right sections 72 and 73 at bending points 75 as boundaries. , and that the center portion 71 faces in the Z direction while the left and right sections 72 and 73 are being angled relative to the center portion 71, as illustrated in FIG. 16.
[0082] Alternatively, the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 can form a flat surface in the X direction as illustrated in FIG. 17.
[0083] Additionally, in the above-mentioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are curved backwards (towards the rear side) in a convex manner like illustrated in FIG. 7. However, the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 can be curved forward (toward the front side) in a convex manner as illustrated in FIG. 18.
[0084] It is important to note that the modifications to the shapes of the frame members 50, the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are of course not limited to those illustrated in FIG. 14 to FIG. 18. In addition, it is also possible to adopt formats obtained by properly combining the aforementioned modality and the aforementioned modifications. (Modification 2)
[0085] FIG. 19 shows an internal configuration of the center portion of the main body section 10 of a dial 2 according to a modification 2, and shows a cross section along the Y direction. The dial 2 according to the present modification has a similar configuration. to that of the display 1 according to the above mentioned embodiment, except that the main body section 10 includes an organic EL (electroluminescence) panel 81 as a display body in place of the liquid crystal panel 11. Therefore, the same numbers of reference are used for corresponding components.
[0086] The organic EL panel 81 includes a front housing (top chassis) 82 and an organic EL cell 83 in this order from front to back in the Z direction.
[0087] The front housing 82 is a frame-shaped metal component that overlies a front peripheral portion of the organic EL panel 81. The organic EL cell 83 may have a configuration in which an organic EL element (not shown) is provided in a substrate 83A which may be glass or the like, and sealed by a substrate 83B which may be made of glass or the like, for example. Organic EL cell 83 can include a fountain driver and a fountain substrate 83D, for example.
[0088] The main component of the organic EL panel 81 (excluding frame-shaped component and the substrates) can only be the organic EL cell 83. The organic EL cell 83 is configured of a flexible member made of glass or resin having a shape of thin board or a sheet format. Therefore, the flexibility of the organic EL cell 83 is further improved in modification 2 compared to the above-mentioned modality which adopts the liquid crystal panel 11, and, consequently, it is possible to further enhance the effect of the above-mentioned modality.
[0089] The front outer member 12, the cover members 13, the rear outer member 14 and the speakers 15 of the main body section 10 are configured similarly to those of the first mode. The base 20, plate member 40, frame members 50 and substrates 60 are configured similarly to those of the first embodiment.
[0090] Except that the organic EL panel 81 is provided in place of the liquid crystal panel 11, the display 2 is manufactured similarly to the aforementioned embodiment. Furthermore, the function of display 2 is similar to that of the aforementioned mode.
[0091] Above, although the present disclosure has been described with reference to the example embodiment and the modifications, the present disclosure is not limited to the aforementioned embodiment and the modifications, and various modifications can be made.
[0092] For example, the configurations of plate member 40 and frame members 50 are not limited to the example configurations illustrated in FIG. 8 to FIG. 10, and other settings can also be adopted. For example, the frame members 50 may also be configured as a unitary belt-shaped plate. In this case, the shape of the plate member 40 is determined by the shape of the face of the frame members 50 facing the plate member 40, and thus the liquid crystal panel 11 has a shape following the plate member 40. the number and arrangement of frame members 50 are not limited to the example illustrated in FIG. 6.
[0093] Furthermore, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the plate member 40 and the liquid crystal panel 11 are the same size, and the frame members 50 fully extend from the left end to the end. right of plate member 40 in the X direction. However, it is not absolutely necessary for plate member 40 and liquid crystal panel 11 to be the same size, and plate member 40 may be larger than liquid crystal panel 11, for example. Furthermore, frame members 50 may not necessarily fully extend in the X direction of plate member 40, but may partially extend in the X direction, for example. In that case, it is only necessary to provide the first projections 41 of the plate member 40 at both end portions in the extension direction of the frame members 50.
[0094] Furthermore, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the left and right sections 53A and 53B of the side face section 53 of the frame members 50 are flexed towards the side of plate member 40 as illustrated in FIG. 9. However, the side face section 53 of the frame members 50 may also have a uniform flat face, as illustrated in FIG. 20 and FIG. 21.
[0095] Furthermore, for example, the attachment of the plate member 40 and the frame members 50 can be performed by other methods without using the pins 43 illustrated in FIG. 10.
[0096] Additionally, although, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the heat release plate 39 also serves as a reinforcement structure, a reinforcement plate can be provided separate from the heat release plate 39. This type of reinforcement plate can be configured using a material similar to that of the heat release plate 39.
[0097] Furthermore, in the aforementioned embodiment, a case is shown in which the light source 37 is arranged on the left and right sides of the light guide plate 35, the position of the light source 37 is not limited thereto, and the light source 37 may be disposed on the upper and lower sides, on one of the left and right sides, or on one of the upper and lower sides of the light guide plate 35. Furthermore, the light source 37 is of a type of back lighting can be provided without using the light guide plate 35.
[0098] In addition, for example, the materials and thicknesses of the layers described in the above-mentioned modality and the modifications are not limiting, and other materials and thicknesses can also be adopted.
[0099] Furthermore, for example, although, in the above-mentioned modality and modifications, the configurations of displays 1 and 2 (television sets) are described in detail, all components need not necessarily be included, and other components may be additionally included.
[00100] The embodiments of the present disclosure are broadly applicable to equipment other than the television described in the aforementioned embodiment, electronic devices in various fields, which display an externally inserted video signal or an internally generated video signal such as an image or a video. Examples of these electronic devices might include a monitor on a PC (personal computer), a public display, and the like.
[00101] Furthermore, the technology encompasses any possible combination of some or all of the various modalities described herein and incorporated in this document.
[00102] It is possible to achieve at least the following configurations from the above-described example modalities of the disclosure.
